How the Story begins
Strong men puffed and panted, just carrying one man’s keys. His true story is in the Qur’an. It is about a man named Qarun, who lived at the time of the Prophet Musa, peace be upon him. Qarun had more treasure than almost anyone you could imagine. But this is not really a story about gold. It is a story about what makes a person truly rich. Let’s find out together.
Qarun was one of Musa’s own people, the Children of Israel. And Allah gave him treasure. Not just a little treasure. A huge amount of it! The Qur’an tells us that Qarun had so many treasure stores that even the keys to them were a heavy load for a group of strong men. Just think about that. Not the treasure itself, only the keys!
The Qur’an does not tell us exactly what was in all those treasure stores. But we can picture heavy doors and many, many locks, and a great big bunch of keys, so heavy that strong men puffed and panted as they carried them. Everything Qarun had was a gift from Allah. And a gift from Allah is something to be thankful for, and something to use well.
