How the Story begins
Long, long ago, Pharaoh sent for every clever magician. The Qur’an tells it, and it is true. It is the story of the Prophet Musa and his brother, the Prophet Harun, peace be upon them both, and a very big day in the land of Egypt, when the truth won over tricks. Let’s find out what happened.
Allah had chosen Musa as His messenger, and He had made Musa’s brother Harun a prophet too, to help him. Allah said to them: Go, both of you, with My signs, and never grow tired of remembering Me. Go to Pharaoh, for he has gone too far. And speak to him gently, so that perhaps he will remember, or be afraid of doing wrong.
Did you hear that? Pharaoh was proud and cruel, and yet Allah told Musa and Harun to speak to him gently. Gentle words are very strong. Musa and Harun said that they were afraid Pharaoh might hurt them. But Allah said: Do not be afraid. I am with you both. I hear, and I see.
