How the Story begins
Someone was at the door. This is a true story, and it comes from the Qur’an. It is the story of the Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and some very special visitors. The Qur’an calls them the honoured guests of Ibrahim. Who were they? Why had they come? And what surprising news did they bring? Let’s find out together.
By this time, Ibrahim was an old man. He lived with his wife, Sarah. Sarah was old too, and in all their years together, she had never had a baby. The Qur’an tells us that Ibrahim was gentle and patient, with a soft and caring heart, and that he always turned back to Allah. The sun was hot, the sand was warm, and the day was quiet.
Then, visitors came. They came in to Ibrahim and said: Peace! And Ibrahim answered: Peace! Ibrahim did not know them. The Qur’an tells us that he thought to himself: These are people I have never met. But it did not matter that they were strangers. They were his guests now, and Ibrahim knew exactly how to treat a guest.
