How the Story begins

Nine hundred and fifty years is a very long time. This true story is from the Qur’an. It is the story of the Prophet Nuh, peace be upon him, and a very big boat. Our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, told us that Nuh was the first of Allah’s messengers sent to the people of the earth. Are you ready? Let’s climb aboard the story.

Long ago, the people of Nuh had forgotten Allah. They had made statues, given them names, and called them their gods. So Allah sent Nuh to them. And Nuh said: “My people, worship Allah. You have no god other than Him.” Nuh loved his people, and he wanted them to be safe. He did not ask them for any money. His reward was with Allah alone.

Nuh called his people by night, and he called them by day. He spoke to them out loud in front of everyone, and he spoke to them quietly, one by one. The Qur’an tells us that Nuh stayed among his people for nine hundred and fifty years. Can you imagine? That is longer than your grandparents’ grandparents’ grandparents. And Nuh never gave up.
