Dawud's Beautiful Voice
6 min · Ages 4–12 · Prophet Dawud (David)
The Prophet Dawud, peace be upon him, is a king and a prophet with a beautiful voice. When he praises Allah, the mountains and the birds praise Allah with him. Allah also makes iron soft in his hands, and he eats only food he has earned by his own work.
Allah gave Dawud many gifts, like a beautiful voice, and He made iron soft in his hands. And Allah told Dawud’s family: Work, and be grateful.

How the Story begins
Mountains and birds once praised Allah alongside one man. This story is true, and it comes from the Qur’an, and from our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. It is about the Prophet Dawud, peace be upon him. Allah gave Dawud many special gifts. One of them was a beautiful voice. And by Allah’s command, even the mountains and the birds praised Allah together with him. Let’s find out how.
Dawud was a king, and he was a prophet too. Allah made his kingdom strong, and gave him wisdom, and the gift of speaking clearly and judging fairly. The Qur’an calls Dawud a man of strength. And it tells us something even more special about him. Dawud always turned back to Allah, again and again. Whatever happened, his heart turned to Allah.
Allah gave Dawud a book, called the Zabur. Just as the Qur’an was sent to our Prophet Muhammad, the Zabur was sent to Dawud, as guidance from Allah. And Dawud would recite it, and praise Allah, with his beautiful voice. Can you imagine how lovely that must have sounded, floating out across the hills?
