How the Story begins
Imagine a table of food sent down from the sky. This true story is in the Qur’an. It is the story of the Prophet ’Isa, peace be upon him, the son of Maryam. You may know that ’Isa was born without a father, and that he spoke when he was just a baby. Tonight we will hear what happened when he grew up, and about a table of food from the sky.
Allah taught ’Isa writing and wisdom, and the Torah, and the Gospel, a Book from Allah full of guidance and light. Then Allah sent ’Isa as a messenger to a people called the Children of Israel. And this was his message: Allah is my Lord, and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path.
To show people that he truly came from Allah, Allah gave ’Isa special signs, called miracles. Here is one of them. ’Isa took some clay, and shaped it into the form of a bird. Then he breathed into it, and it became a real bird, by Allah’s permission. Imagine a little clay shape, turning into a living bird!
