How the Story begins
Ayyub is a name worth remembering. His story is true, and it comes from the Qur’an. It is the story of the Prophet Ayyub, peace be upon him. The Qur’an tells us that Allah sent His message to Ayyub, just as He sent it to Ibrahim, and Yunus, and our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. And Allah gave Ayyub a very special word. Can you guess what it was? Patient.
The scholars tell us that Ayyub was once blessed with many good things. He had a family that he loved, and plenty of everything he needed. Picture green fields, and trees heavy with fruit, and a home full of the sound of people he loved. And Ayyub knew where every one of these good things came from. They were gifts from Allah.
But then Allah tested Ayyub. Hardship came to him. The scholars tell us that he lost what he had, and that he became very ill, for a long, long time. The Qur’an does not tell us every detail of what happened. But it does tell us that Ayyub was touched by hardship and pain, and that it was very hard.
